Dentists and lecturers from India and Sri Lanka visited NWSMU named after I.I. Mechnikov
On June 8 and 9, 2022, North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov welcomed a delegation of doctors and lecturers from Sri Lanka and India invited by the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Elena A. Satygo.
On the first day of the visit, the guests met with the Rector of the University Sergey A. Sayganov. They discussed opportunities of cooperation in medicine, science and education between Russia, India and Sri Lanka. Ksenia A. Khramtsova, Head of International Office, made a presentation of the NWSMU international activities. Zakhar V. Lopatin, Head of Training Department, presented the University’s educational projects. The delegation members from India and Sri Lanka also presented their projects; spoke about the medical education system in their countries, as well as about potential partners – Dental College and Consortium of Medical Universities.
After the meeting, the guests visited the University History Museum and then enjoyed a cultural programme visiting the main sights of St. Petersburg.
On the second day of their stay, members of the delegation took part in the international conference on Topical issues of modern dentistry (Russia - India - Sri Lanka), organized at the Faculty of Dentistry of NWSMU. Professors and doctors from the three countries discussed the diagnosis, planning and treatment in orthodontics, aesthetic dentistry and surgical dentistry. At the end of the conference, the parties also talked about possibilities for organizing joint short-term programmes, seminars, exchange of lecturers and students and other cooperation issues.
The two intensive days resulted in the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding and Cooperation between NWSMU and the Sri Venkateshwara Group of Institutions, as well as with the College of Dentistry (Puducherry, India).
All conference participants were awarded certificates and the guests, in turn, awarded the staff of the University with certificates of appreciation.
