On December 04, 2018 was held the workshop “Professional Leadership” within the framework of cooperation between the University of Oslo, Norway; the Christian College, Norway and North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov, Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
The workshop included 3 master classes:
∙ Jeanette H. Magnus - “What is Leadership?”
∙ Judy J.D. Overall - “Team Leadership”
∙ Olga Yu. Kuznetsova - “Who are the leaders and employees?”
The workshop was focused on improving of knowledge and skills of academic staff, heads of educational, scientific and administrative departments of NWSMU n.a. I.I. Mechnikov using modern approaches to the implementation of the tasks of leaders in medical educational institutions, as well as for understanding the leadership importance, targeted at a wide ken and vision of the problems in educational organizations. The participants of the workshop discussed issues of personal growth, leadership and teamwork.
The program of the workshop was developed by:
Jeanette H. Magnus, MD, Ph.D., the Inaugural Head of the Institute for Health and Society at the University of Oslo, Norway; Head of the Department of Public Health and behavioral science, Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orleans, USA.
Judy Overall J.D., M.S., M. Ed., Master of Science and Education, Senior Advisor to the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo, Norway; inspirer and participant of several Russian-Norwegian grant-projects, dedicated to the development of geriatrics, palliative care, family medicine as well as leading expert in medical law, management in public health, participate since 1995.
Professor Olga Yu. Kuznetsova, Head of the Department of Family Medicine, NWSMU n.a. I.I. Mechnikov, manager of Russian-Norwegian grant-programs, dedicated to the development of geriatrics, palliative medicine, chief expert in general medical practice of the Health care Committee, Saint-Petersburg.
Both Universities are keen for further collaboration and conduct such the events in the nearest future.
All the participants expressed gratitude to Sergey A. Sayganov, Rector of North-Western State Medical University I.I. Mechnikov and University administration for the great opportunity to take part in such an interesting event.
